Southern Cross Credit Union announced as WINNER of the Business category at the recent Tweed Shire 2021 Sustainability Awards.

“Being named the winner for best business in sustainability alongside some of the brightest and committed people in the region is truly humbling and a credit to our dedicated team, who continually go above and beyond to deliver an exceptional experience to our customers, be it banking or serving our community.

Our business is not just about banking and we are genuinely committed to making a positive impact for a more sustainable future that benefits generations to come and are absolutely making sure we play our part. Through our actions, I am confident that we can continue to influence our community and customers along the way to do the same knowing that every little step we take has a massive impact said CEO Stuart Edwards.

At SCCU, sustainability is embedded at all levels of the business and is a key component of our culture to be more sustainably focused giving our team the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the different aspects of sustainability, including social, economic and environmental programs which empower them to take action.

For us it is also about communicating the importance, providing education, leading by example through partnerships and activities and empowering each other to play a pivotal role in sustainability stewardship. Some of the outstanding achievement we have made is to reduce our  paper consumption by XX and waste to landfill by 88% just to name a few.

We have so much more to do on our journey to dramatically reduce our environmental footprint, promote productivity and encourage community and our people to value their health and that of their surroundings.

We are proud to partner with an incredible diverse range of organisations that are working with us to build a better tomorrow for generations to come.
