  • 3Sending and receiving money with Osko is safe

Sending and receiving money with Osko is safe

Quick, easy, convenient, and safe. Payments via Osko are protected by our real-time transaction monitoring. However, as with any banking transactions, it’s important that you work with us and take precautions to help reduce the likelihood of mistakes and potential fraud on your account.

Especially with Osko payments where transactions are typically completed in less than a minute, it is crucial that you remain mindful and attentive to details when paying someone, so you can keep your funds safe. Once you make the payment, it cannot be cancelled once the final authorisation has been completed and the chances of recovery are very limited.

  • 4Understanding transaction limits

    Understanding transaction limits

When making payments via Osko, the combined daily limit across your accounts is $5000. This fast payment option only works if the receiving financial institution is also registered with New Payment Platforms (NPP) and Osko to have the technical capability to process payments fast. However, these limits do not apply for receiving funds via Osko.

Fast payments are available for any single transaction made via our NetBanking or mobile app. You’ll know your money has been scheduled to be sent fast if you see the Osko logo on the type of transaction selected when doing your bank transfer. If you don’t see the Osko logo, your payment will be processed in the normal manner and follow our standard processing times – which can take from a few hours to a few days to be completed.

what is an Osko Payment?

OSKO FAQs

  • Can I make a fast payment at an SCCU Financial Service Centre or via call centre?

Fast payments via Osko are not available to be processed from our Financial Service Centres or Customer Service Centre. Osko option is only available for transactions completed via NetBanking and/or SCCU mobile app.

  • Can I make/receive fast payments using BSB and Account number?

The short answer is yes. Instead of using a PayID, you could make and receive payments fast as long as both financial institutions are registered with New Payment Platforms (NPP) and Osko have the technical capability to process payments fast.

  • Will the periodical/recurrent payments I have set be completed via Fast Payments?

Any Periodical Payment established prior to 1st of August 2024 will continue to be sent as Standard Payments. If you wish for these payments to be sent as fast payments, you will need to cancel the existing recurrent payment and re-establish it as an Osko payment.

Your daily transaction limit has a bearing on creating and processing of regular scheduled payments. Talk to us if you need to increase your daily limit.

  • Can I set a payee to receive fast payments only?

Yes, you can. When creating a new payee, you can choose to only save their PayID instead of also including their BSB and Account number. By doing this, the payee will automatically receive funds faster via Osko whether it’s a single transaction or a recurrent payment.

If a payee is saved in the Address Book with both their PayID and BSB and Account number information, then you will have to choose the type of payment you wish to make, if a fast payment using Osko or if a Standard Transfer.

  • What happens if I pay the wrong person or business?

Fast payments transactions are typically completed in less than a minute and that is why it is important to confirm you are paying the right person or business before confirming the payment.

Unfortunately, your payment cannot be cancelled once the final authorisation has been completed and the chances of recovery are very limited. In some cases, it is possible to ask the receiving bank to return funds sent to unintended recipients. Our chances to successfully retrieve any mistaken payments will depend on how long ago the transaction was completed.

After submitting a payment recall or trace request, we typically have an outcome within two weeks although in some cases it may take up to four weeks. A fast payment/NPP Recall fee may apply. See our Schedule of Fees & Charges under Support.

  • What happens if my payment is rejected?

In the event of your payment being rejected, the funds for the rejected payment will be returned to your account almost immediately, and you will also receive a notification. The notification could be sent via secure message in NetBanking, SMS or email depending on how your contact details were recorded in our system.

Staying Scam Aware

The more you know, the better prepared you’ll be:

As COVID hit some 3 years ago, I approached SCCU to re-align our financial position at both a personal and professional level with our business. Not only were your team receptive but with the assistance of SCCU not only did we make our way through COVID closures, but due to the support of SCCU we have evolved into an extremely sound business, and I would suggest a success story of the community banking that SCCU continues to deliver. Thank you for the support you offer to us as a local business and us as a local family of the area. Thank you, the entire team, at SCCU for being such an awesome part of the community whilst also being a great business to align with.

Working with Steve has been an absolute pleasure! He is very professional yet is able to bring a personal touch to the banking and loan process. We always feel like we are kept up to date with requirements and processes and Steve is always willing to explain everything in a user-friendly yet professional manner. He has been amazing to work with for our financial needs and would highly recommend his services to friends, family, and colleagues.

We are writing to compliment SCCU for the excellent care, efficiency and exceptional customer service which we have received over the past many months of our build from Emma Northcott. Emma has combined professionalism, attention to details, accuracy, excellent communication and helpful consideration in managing our loan and the periodic payments requested by the builder. In our opinion she has gone above and beyond what we would have expected from a Lending Operations Specialist, and her handling of our account will highly contribute to our recommendations of SCCU to friends and family. Thanking you sincerely
Stan and Zetta Michaels
