SCCU is giving $30k in grants to support community projects in the Northern Rivers region

Southern Cross Credit Union (SCCU) Annual Community Grants program opens Monday, 19th of September 2022, giving local groups, organisations, and small business a chance to partner with them to bring their community projects to life.

The credit union is offering a total of $30,000 in Community Grants to projects in the areas of environment & sustainability, health & wellbeing, sports & recreation, arts & culture, and education that will benefit the population of the Northern Rivers, region, as part of their ongoing commitment in supporting local organisations.

“Community Grants is our largest and most engaging program, and we’re very proud to continue to offer it to our community. We are so much more than financial support, we offer volunteer hours, resources, exposure, support, and we believe that together we can continue to help drive our region forward through all the new challenges we face. If you’re a community group or small business, have a project that will help us make a real difference in the Northern Rivers, we want to work with you to make it happen.” Cassie Nicole, SCCU Community and Sponsorship Specialist

SCCU have also developed additional support for those applying this year, with an improved ‘How to’ guide, which will assist you in your application “We know not all groups applying will have the experience or dedicated resource at hand to help them enter programs like our SCCU Community Grants” added Cassie. “The ‘How to’ guide is a simple step we can take to help everyone understand what we’re looking for and better articulate their project, their goals, and their plan for working with us.”

The Southern Cross Credit Union Community Grants program have been crucial in supporting and developing multiple projects for many years now. Past recipients have made a huge impact on the Northern Rivers using their SCCU grants for a range of initiatives including providing mental health courses, increased the resources of local community resilience teams, developing an outreach program for youth, and establishing a mentor program for community housing tenants and women in need to name a few.

Applications open on the 19th of September 2022, and close on the 28th October 2022 with public voting to follow. To apply visit our Community Grants page.
