PayID FAQs

  • Are fast payments with PayID safe?

Fast payments are processed via Osko and protected by our real-time transaction monitoring. We have various measures in place to help protect your account from frauds and scams.

However, it’s your responsibility to double-check the payee information before going ahead.
With PayID, you’ll see who you’re paying before you confirm your payment, so you’ll know your money is going to the right person or business. This can help avoid mistaken or scam payments.

PayID is a simpler alternative to BSB and Account number when transferring money, but it cannot be used to withdraw funds.

  • Does PayID replace my BSB and Account?

PayID doesn’t replace your BSB and Account number. It is just an easier alternative to offer you more convenience when making or receiving Fast Payments. For all other transactions, your BSB and Account may be required.

  • What happens if my details show as already registered but I haven’t registered for PayID?

If your mobile number, email address, ABN or Organisation Identifier is showing as already registered and you don’t remember registering for PayID before, we first recommend you confirm if you have a PayID already registered with a different financial institution.

You can use an alternative PayID option to register a second PayID with us. If your mobile number is showing as already registered, you could proceed by using your email address, for example. Another alternative is to transfer or cancel the existing PayID with the previous financial institution and then register it again with us via NetBanking or mobile app.

The same procedure is requested if you have a PayID registered with SCCU and wish to transfer to another bank.

  • Do I need a PayID per account?

Each PayID can only be registered to one eligible account. If you have more than one account and wish to have a PayID for each account, you will be required to create a different PayID for each account. For example, if you have used your mobile number to create a PayID before, you will need to use an alternative mobile number or email address that is linked to your account.

The same procedure is applied to accounts in different banks/credit unions. If you have registered a PayID with a different financial institution before, you will need a different mobile number or email address linked to your account with us to be able to proceed.

However, you can link multiple PayIDs to the same account. If using a joint account, each user or any Authorised User can have a unique PayID linked to the same account.

  • Can I register another person’s details with PayID?

A PayID must be linked to the information under your name already listed to your account profile even if it’s a joint account.

When registering for PayID, you will be given options between the type of PayID you want to use such as your mobile number or email, for example. If you have a joint account, your partner will have options under their name.

Shane provided amazing customer service from start to finish. He was extremely knowledgeable, respectful, and attended to every detail of the process with thoroughness and professionalism. This kind of customer service is almost unheard of these days, so it was an absolute delight to work with Shane. The interest rate on my company car was fantastic and the terms of the loan were both fair and reasonable. I 100% recommend Shane and Southern Cross Credit Union for obtaining financing for a vehicle and wouldn't use anyone else for my business going forward. Thanks to Shane and his team!

Previously we were not advocates of the banking industry, we were strong non-believers after some disappointing & negative experiences. Many locals referred us to Southern Cross Credit Union (SCCU) and after much encouragement we moved our banking business to the SCCU Tweed City Branch. We are now strong believers as we have been in the extremely efficient, effective and supportive hands of SCCU loans manager Stephen Distant. What an asset! Stephen has totally reframed our banking experience, we are genuinely impressed with his ability to do this by managing our loans. Even after many years as a SCCU client, Stephen's dedication with helping us has not died down, his loyalty remains nothing short of inspiring and his willingness to provide outstanding customer service is something we are in awe of. Moving our accounts to SCCU was a great decision, thanks to Stephen Distant.

As COVID hit some 3 years ago, I approached SCCU to re-align our financial position at both a personal and professional level with our business. Not only were your team receptive but with the assistance of SCCU not only did we make our way through COVID closures, but due to the support of SCCU we have evolved into an extremely sound business, and I would suggest a success story of the community banking that SCCU continues to deliver. Thank you for the support you offer to us as a local business and us as a local family of the area. Thank you, the entire team, at SCCU for being such an awesome part of the community whilst also being a great business to align with.
