  • Byron Festival Food Rescue Project - Liberation Larder
Each year, tonnes of food from local festivals and events go to waste. Liberation Larder's Byron Festival Food Waste Project will save more than 10 tonnes of food from local events including Falls Festival, Splendour in the Grass and Bluesfest. The rescued food is then redistributed to the homeless and families and individuals in need.
  • Brunswick Valley Rescue Solar Project - Community Owned Renewable Enerfy Mullumbimby (COREM)
COREM is a not for profit community action group dedicated to setting up community-owned renewable energy projects in the Mullumbimby area, in the pursuit and promotion of a 100% renewable energy future for the region. COREM will use the Community Grant to support one of their projects which is to install solar panels on the Brunswick Valley Rescue building, reducing greenhouse gas emissions by more than 5 tonnes and contributing to COREM's revolving energy fund which will support future projects.
  • Big Scrub Orchestra - Big Scrub Rainforest Day
The Big Scrub Orchestra will provide dynamic arts education for local students at the rurally located Dunoon and Whian Whian Public Schools. Students at these schools have limited access to specialised creative arts teachers and programs. The children will participate in creative workshops including song writing workshops, composing music and performance, culminating in the recording of a song and the Big Scrub Orchestra performing at the Big Scrub Rainforest Day.
